This is probably one of the hardest podcasts that I have ever had to post. The podcast is going to take the next six months off, as I take the next six months off from my business and everything that I have created with Chasing Happiness. I will explain this a little bit better in the blog post for next week but there will be no new podcasts from now until the new year while I take some much-needed time for myself to reset and refocus.

May 1, 2023

This week will start some of the replay episodes that I will be playing from the last seven years. We have had a lot of great guest, and a lot of wonderful conversations over the last seven years as this podcast has grown. I thought you would start our replay episodes in honour of Walt Disney World, since I am at Walt Disney World this week, with my amazing conversation with Lou Mongello of WDW Radio.

Lou has been an amazing friend, a wonderful supporter, a business mentor and so much more to me over the years that it felt right to make this one of our replay episodes. It felt especially right to make it the very first one of the replay episodes over the last seven years because he has been such an important part of me creating this podcast to begin with. The Chasing Happiness podcast would not exist without Lou Mongello.

I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I enjoyed the conversation. Please feel free to follow Lou and his amazing journey and all of the things that he does in the world after listening to this episode at the links below.

Starting a business can be terrifying, starting one in the middle of a pandemic even more so. Add to that, creating a business for women by women and you may just think "what was I thinking" but thankfully for us the ladies who started Ovry were willing to take the risk.

Ovry is a business focused on education and making reproductive care accessbile and affordable to everyone. This week on the podcast I talk with Jackie, one of the cofounders of Ovry about why they created this company any why education around women's reproductive health is so important.

We chat about what it was like too launch the company in the middle of a pandemic, how hard it has been to help some people understand that this is something many women are concerned about. With many choosing to hold off on starting a family until later in life, many who struggle to start a family when they are ready, and many who have decided not to have a family based on whatever their life circumstances and choices are, being able to have access to government regulated products that are affordable and that can assist them in whatever their life goals are, is important.

We talk about lessons learned along the way and Jackie shares with us some of the things that have been eye-opening for her. The fabulous learning opportunities as a company while they launched this business. This Canadian owned company is trying to create a world where we all have access to the health products we need. Where no one is judged for the choices they make about fertility and health and most of all, they are trying to level the playing field around womens health.

Jackie shares with us some words of wisdom as well as life lessons she's learned through this process and of course, we chat a little about where the company is going, and what her long-term goals are. We talk briefly about why women's fertility was an important topic and a good starting place for the company, and how they're now expanding into products to monitor male fertility as well. Jackie has some big plans for this company and happily shares her vision with all of us this week on the podcast.

As a woman who struggles with fertility issues myself, this conversation hit close to home. For many listeners may be the case. Please be advised we do talk about fertility issues in this episode. As a woman who has experienced infertility, I understand this may not be an episode for everyone.

Jackie has also been generous enough to give all of the listeners to the Chasing Happiness podcast a 15% discount on all of the products offered by Ovry, Use Code: CHASINGHAPPINESS15 on the site when you order.

Please be sure to follow her and the company after listening to this week's episode

How do we live our lives well when we often face things out of our control?

Sometimes things that are related to our health hit us with the unexpected bad news that we left to cope with without a guidebook to help us through it all.

This week I chat with Dr. Kevin Payne about all of this and more. He shares with me how his diagnosis of MS in his young adulthood changed his life. He shares how the struggle of that journey has impacted his career and his life choices.

We talk about why he started skydiving and how instrumental that life choice has been for him in creating a life lived well for himself.

He tells me why he started "Your life lived well" and what impact he is hoping it has on the world.

We talk about what stress really is and how it relates to our fear and why you can't actually avoid stress so we all should be aiming toward a life where we reframe what stress actually is.

Be sure to check him out after you listen to this week's episode of the podcast.

Our bodies communicate daily; how often do you stop listening to what yours tells you?

This week I'm replaying a chat with Beth Manning, A Master Psychic Healer and Medical Intuitive, about how we can all become more aware of how our bodies speak to us.

For most of us who live on the East Coast this year, Christmas looked a little different. With what they called the storm of the century, thousands of people got snowed in, got stranded away from their family, and had a Christmas that looked very different than what they had expected. No matter how your holidays turned out, I hope you know it's OK to be sad. It's OK to be happy and joyful regardless of the outcome. This year Christmas likely looked different for you than you had expected and it's OK if you're not sure how to process that yet. No matter where you found yourself, or what was happening, I hope you know you are loved and valued. Merry Christmas

With anxiety on the rise and the holiday season upon us, this week is the perfect time for us to have a conversation about anxiety. About stress and how to manage it with a Doctor who does the research and knows what will make a difference. Let's face it, with the last couple of years being as stressful and as anxiety inducing as they have been, most of us haven't stopped to take a breath and process everything that we've been caring with us for the last couple of years.

This week Dr Caroline Buzanko shares with us how we can manage our own anxiety and stress but also how we can teach children to handle theirs. We chat about the last couple of years and how that has impacted anxiety and stress levels. She shares some of the information from her research and gives us some tips and tricks so that we can all try to get just a little bit better every day at managing our anxiety and learning how to do that.

With the holidays fast approaching, it is that time of year again for most of us to feel overworked, overstressed, and maybe even slightly underappreciated. So this holiday season, give yourself a break and take a couple of minutes a day to remind yourself it's okay to feel however you feel at the moment. It's okay to be overwhelmed and you do not have to do everything.

Just an update this week to let you all know I made it back across the country again. Moving is stressful and can be a lot of chaos and doing it in the winter around the holidays is just added stress so if you are like me at all, make sure you get a good support system to help you.

Grief is a subject many shy away from. We now live in a society where we only experience grief and death when it's personal to us. We no longer experience these things as a community and support each other as a community. This week on the podcast I'm chatting with Silke Herwald about how this changes affecting us, why it's important for us to remember that grief is different for everyone.

We talk about why it's so important for us all to have support. How grief can affect us in moments we don't even think could be affected. We chat about how sometimes simple things like your morning routine change when you lose a loved one and how that can affect every aspect of your day.

Silke shares her advice and experience with loss and gives us some advice on how best to support people in our lives who are living with grief.

Travel has a way of opening us all up to new ideas, new cultures and new versions of ourselves. Those are just a few of the reasons why April Bielefeldt decided to create a life that involved travel. As a travel expert, travel photographer and woman on a mission to help teach people creative ways to travel, April has all kinds of tips, tricks and suggestions for anyone who wants to get started but may be unsure how to do so.

This isn't the path she thought she would end up on, but as she discussed with me this week, sometimes life leads us to the things we are meant to do. She shares exactly how she ended up focused on travel and why she views it as such a life-changing experience for people.

She shares how being creative about travel can not only save you money but help you to truly experience a new place in a way that helps you connect to local people as well as those who are also travelling like you. April is building a community of like-minded travellers who can support each other, answer questions for those who are new to travel and create a supportive environment that encourages curiosity.

Sometimes our lives lead us down a path we never intended to end up on. This is exactly what happened to Carol as she helped an aging mother, tried to balance raising her family and had to deal with the loss of the love of her life.

As you can imagine, this changed her profoundly, and this week on the podcast, Carol shares with us how this led her to become a coach for women trying to rediscover who they are.

Carol and I chat about how loss and grief have no real timeline. We talk about how we live in a world where we are told we "should" be over our feelings, but the truth is, you process things like grief in small pieces at a time because otherwise, it would be too overwhelming to process.

Carol gives us all some advice on how to be kind to ourselves in our journeys, and we chat about what it means to be grateful and allow for moments when we can be overwhelmed by our feelings.

Have you ever thought you were going through life alone?

Have you ever struggled thinking no one else has ever been in this position before?

Has it felt like for the last two years, you've been living a life that doesn't feel like it makes sense anymore?

This week on the podcast I talk with Chelsea, a wonderful content creator from TikTok who walks me through the realization she had one morning about the job she was working in the life she was living. We talk about how that led her to become not only a content creator, but someone who shares her personal story and journey so that other people don't feel alone.

We chat about why community is so important for us all to be and feel better as humans. She shares some of her personal journey and struggles over the last few years with us. We chat about travel and why that experience is so transformative to us as individuals.

Chelsea is an amazing human who I am so glad to have found on TikTok. Please be sure to follow her after you listen to this week's episode

Does understanding yourself better help you to understand others?

Can you set boundaries and stick to them in your relationships?

This week on the podcast, I chat with Mr. Jay, a relationship coach who explains why we all may have problems setting healthy boundaries and how we can get better at doing so to have healthier and happier relationships (especially with family).

We chat about how our personal traumas can play a role in how we approach relationships and why we should all look for help in healing those traumas.

Mr. Jay walks me through how he got into this world of helping people build better relationships and why it's been such a meaningful role for him.

Relationships are complicated, and we could all use some help navigating them sometimes, so be sure to check him out after you listen to this week's episode.
